Headliner Opportunities (Part 2)

The news headlines do always seems to be bad, but we do not have to give in to the anxiety or anger or apathy we naturally feel when we read them. We have options.

Option 2: Remember.

“Government Shutdown Looms” can pitch us into a spiraling, worry frenzy or we can allow it to remind us of when we first realized the truth about God as our Provider. In fact, right now picture that moment when you knew for sure that Christ is the One Who meets your needs. That was God revealing Himself to you. (This is awe-inspiring. The God of the Universe chose you to know Him and allowed you to understand part of His character!) Thank Him. 

If you cannot think of a discreet instance when this was true, consider whether or not you consider Christ your Provider. Are you depending on Him or something (like the government) or someone else (like yourself) for security?

Headlines can challenge us to live what we say we believe – if we allow the Holy Spirit this avenue to work through. So this week, when you read an upsetting blurb, pause, re-focus, and remember what you know about your Lord.
