D is for devotional. It could have been devotion. But devotion is personal while a devotional is meant for all. And that is my intent: to build a virtual retreat for spiritual relaxation where we may find joyous refreshment and courage to overcome. Luke tells us (Acts 3:19) that true refreshment comes from the presence of God Himself. But there is a problem, we are all enemies of God. We disobey His laws, resist His authority, and have justly been cut off from God's presence. Together, we have only one hope: that Someone would intercede for us and make peace with God. But who could do such a thing? Only Someone with perfect standing before God. That Someone is Jesus Christ. Fully man, He was able to take our place and our punishment before God. Fully God, He maintained a perfect relationship with God because He never did anything wrong. Through His death on the cross, Jesus opened up the only way back into the presence of the Lord. Those who believe in Jesus as Savior and Lord will overcome (1 John 5:5). |
