People really like the verses in the Bible that seem to remove our accountability to others. “Judge not” may just be the most commonly quoted fragment of Scripture. We like to tell people that they don’t have authority over us and that we can do what we want regardless of what they think.
But that’s not the whole story. We need to hear the rest of the story. The rest of the story is: I stand at God’s throne where I will be judged. People are skewed judges, who think they know everything, but don’t. They judge based on what they see, feel, and experience. And those things change so their opinions do too. God is the Just Judge, Who knows everything. Everything. People judged on what they see – our actions, words and attitude. Their perception is often wrong, but it is always limited. God is unlimited which means He judges the heart – including our innermost thoughts and most secret motives. His judgement will be absolutely just because there will be nothing hidden – it will all be revealed. Yes, I stand before God’s throne – and I will get away with nothing. No one will.
