Gift Giving Made Easy

12/21/2018

“Therefore, as through one man’s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life.” – Romans 5:18
A:
A gift shows you care and have cared enough to observe them in order to pick out something they want.  Translation: A gift is not just an item.  It is a demonstration that you know them and how they give and receive love.  “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8
B: People show and receive love differently.  “Since you were precious in My sight,
You have been honored, and I have loved you…”  -- Isaiah 43:4

If your recipient feels most loved by:
  1. * Touching – couple each gift with a hug or kiss (if appropriate – I recommend against kissing/hugging your boss/co-workers).
  2. * Getting Gifts – multiple small gifts may totally make their Christmas and let them know how much you love them. (Remember the 12 Days of Christmas Song?  The True Love (I think) was a gifts person!  12 different gifts just to say I care :0).
  3. * Words of Encouragement – be sure to include a note with each gift (they will likely keep the note longer anyway :0).
  4. * Spending Time Together – gifts that include time with you or other loved ones are going to be the best received (tickets for events, dining together, invitation for a special activity, a search where everyone solves the riddles together etcetera).
  5. * Acts of Service – These gifts often come in the form of coupons such as for baking their favorite desert or dinner, detailing their car or less glamorous things like: unclogging the bathroom sink.
C: A gift is a reflection of Jesus who did all things well (Mark 7:37).  “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” – John 13:34

BONUS!  Getting Gifts Made Easy!
While a gift shows how much they care, your response shows how much you care.  Accepting their gift is accepting their love.  With this in mind it is easy to be enthusiastic!  (Of course, there is also a place after receiving 18 pairs of argyle socks to let Aunt Martha know you are more of an ankle socks person :0).
